The Creation of Canary Fight

When I created the Canary Fight the other night, I was filled with emotion from a bird fight I witnessed earlier that morning. It was not a canary but instead two black birds fighting over some food in my backyard. When I witnessed the interaction between the two birds, I thought to myself how horrible it was but yet, how beautiful at the same time. This was nature at its finest.

Unlike these birds, I am very fortunate I have food on my table and don't have to fight over every crumb I come across. The passion for survival is amazing and this provoked me to paint something that represented this moment. I love the colors yellow and black when used together. When I was preparing to paint, I knew those were the colors I would use and canaries are yellow. That is how this painting came about.

First Watercolor Attempt

I recently decided to play with watercolor for the first time. As you know, I love abstract art but I have always used acrylic paint. This has been my comfort zone for many years but I am trying to branch out and create more abstract art with different mediums. I created these two recent pieces which I am happy with for my first attempt.
